On the Go Tech is not your average mobile electronics retailer. We do things differently from most other shops in the area. Our standards are very high because we want our clients to have the best-sounding, most-reliable car audio upgrades.
A Real Time Analyzer Is A Valuable Audio Tool
One of the main things separating us from our competition is the use of diagnostic tools in our installations. And one of the main tools we use is called an RTA.
RTA stands for Real Time Analyzer. In simple terms, it lets us “see” what is happening to the music in your car stereo system. We play a diagnostic file through your audio system and can see on a graph what your original audio system is doing to your music. It lets us see if an equalization curve is being added to the music and if the musical signal is being divided up or crossed over.
Why do we use it? The simple answer to this is knowledge. If we don’t use an RTA when working on your audio system, we are going in blind, and guessing about what to do. Do you really want to pay a shop good money to guess on your vehicle?
RTA’s Increase The Potential For A Great Sounding System
What is the benefit to the client? There are many, but the biggest one is sound quality. Here’s an example. A client came to us disappointed with the bass upgrade that a competitor did on their vehicle and upset at being told “That’s how it is going to sound.” We used an RTA on the audio system and saw that it had premium sound – the car maker divided up the musical signal into three distinct signal paths. However, the other shop chose only to use the “subwoofer” signal. That was a big mistake. The car maker had such a narrow band of music going to the factory subwoofer that it was no wonder the music sounded lifeless.
Summing Device And Some Tuning Result In Great Sound
We used a summing device and were able to use the subwoofer signal and the door woofer signal. Now we had all the music signal we needed to give the client full-sounding, detailed bass. The customer was thrilled.
The fact is, the only way to properly know what is going on with a factory audio system is to measure it. And the only way to measure it properly is with an RTA.
It Is True, Time Is Money
Why doesn’t every shop use one? To be fair, it will cost a client more money for the installation when an RTA is used. It takes time, and time costs money. Most shops are afraid to charge the proper amount of labor needed for upgrades in a modern car. We feel that there is only one way to do a job: the right way.
